Big Bass Bonanza leans into a cheerful lakeside vibe and never lets go of it. The whole thing is built around a calm, tappy rhythm where you watch the water, react to what shows up, and enjoy the little animations that play out. It's the kind of game you open while waiting for a kettle to boil.
Controls are about as simple as it gets. Everything happens with taps in the right moment, so there's no fiddly gesture to memorise, and it plays fine one-handed on the bus. The art is loud in a good way, all sunny colours and a chubby fisherman mascot who reacts to what's happening on screen. The sound design is surprisingly nice too, with plops and splashes that make each moment feel a bit more tactile.
What kept me poking at it was the pacing. Sessions are short by nature, so it never overstays its welcome, and the presentation stays charming across long stretches. It's not deep, and it doesn't pretend to be, but as a light casual pick-up it does its one job well.
