Big Bass Bonanza: a week with the calmest game on my phone

I didn't expect much from Big Bass Bonanza when I first opened it. It looked like another cheerful casual game, and honestly that's exactly what it is, but I ended up keeping it installed longer than half the games I meant to review this month.

The appeal is how little it asks of you. Everything runs on taps at the right moment, so you can play with one hand while the other is holding a coffee. The lakeside setting stays consistently pretty, and the fisherman mascot has just enough personality to make you smile without getting annoying.

After a few days I noticed I was reaching for Big Bass Bonanza in the exact gaps where I'd normally doomscroll. That's a quiet compliment. It doesn't demand a session plan or a strategy guide, it just fills a small pocket of time nicely.

If you want depth, this isn't your game and it never claims to be. But as a low-effort, good-looking thing to poke at between tasks, it earned its place on my home screen for the week. I left it there after the review, which says more than the rating.

My one tip: play with sound on. The little splashes and plops are half the charm and the whole thing feels flatter muted.
